Celebrate Yourself

bouquet of seventeen hot-pink roses and two small plates with the words chin chin

I started my period earlier today, and no way am I gonna go through bleedapalooza without some beautiful items to keep me company. These shockingly gorgeous roses will definitely lift my spirits on the, um, heavier days. I hadn’t planned on unwrapping the chin-chin plates, thinking I’d save them for after I move into a better home, but I am so glad that I did. They’re too pretty to not enjoy NOW!

The gentleman who rang up my chin-chin plates at El Corte Inglés last week was SUCH a gem. He was so friendly, upbeat, and KIND, and he packaged my purchase with such care. Seriously, he was one of the kindest human beings I’ve encountered in a long time, and the experience left me buzzing with more hopeful energy. That I could be more like him! That all humans could be more like him! I wish him and his loved ones nothing but the best! The fact that the plates were a 2-for-1 deal was the cherry on top.

I also had some fun today trying to decide what colors to use for a new cross-stitch project. I think this combination of Nina’s Threads (Fuchsia, Old Jeans, Pine, and Teal) is definitely giving Pisces energy, no? Now I just need to dive into my vast collection of (free) patterns and choose what to stitch with these beautiful flosses...

Wishing you a great day filled with beautiful things and lovely energy!

Linen Love

cross-stitch of a lady cupid against a glitter-pink background

What a pleasure it was to stitch this cutie (I call her Cupida!) in the month of pink and red and love aka February. She is so, SO BEAUTIFUL and I really hope that she blesses my blog as well as all of my stitchy endeavors. This was my first time cross-stitching on 32 ct AND linen (Zweigart Lucan)—well, Lucan is actually a blend of linen and cotton, but I’m totally counting this as my first stitching-on-linen experience as it felt SO different from working with aida and evenweave. I’d been slightly intimated by the idea of stitching on linen, so I feel extra proud of myself for completing this project. I definitely look forward to working with linen again soon, maybe a Belfast!

I stitched this sweet angel from a freebie on the Pinker ’n’ Punkin Quilting blog titled “Ewe Have My Heart” (minus the ewe!). Melisa generously offers so many adorable free patterns on her blog, and I have already started stitching one of her houses.

I used tent stitch for the three larger hearts for a different effect and whatever DMC flosses I already had in my collection (B5200, 310, 349, 434, 437, and 3706). I like to imagine Cupida as an angel of self-love, directing her arrows at all those who need to love themselves more...which is probably most of us.

Wishing you a lovely day and may many blessings come your way!

New Beginnings

three pink ranunculi

A blog devoted to beauty and cross-stitch and other lovely, inspiring things.

A blog I’ve been wanting to pour love into for years.

A blog to share a bit of myself with the world.

Well, how exciting! :-)
